Timber windows and doors need to be cared for and maintained on a regular basis to ensure they look and function perfectly for years to come.

• Doors should be stored laying flat on level ground, in a dry, cool area not in direct sun.
• Lay doors flat on timber bearers at 600mm spacings for support.
• Window/door frames should be stored laying flat on even ground or upright on sills and secured so they dont fall.
• Store safely in a dry, cool area not in direct sun.
• Do not allow water to pool on frames.
• If necessary, report any damaged or missing product in writing within 24 hours of delivery.

• Sashes & doors must be sealed on all 6 faces with a quality primer/sealer/undercoat within 2-3 days of delivery to prevent environmental damage.
• Remove all weather seals and hardware prior to painting, re-fit once painting is finished.
• Do not paint weather seals. This will cause windows to stick and operate poorly.
• Do not paint moving parts eg: rollers, winders, ropes, ausjambs, spiral balances, etc.
• We do not recommend dark colour paint or stain on external faces of windows and doors. Use of light reflective, semi-gloss finishes are recommended and applied per coating manufacturers specification.
• We do not recommend clear coatings or stains on external faces of windows and doors, especially on elevations exposed to the elements.
• Inspect your coating every three to six months and touch-up or re-coat where necessary, including top and bottom of sashes & doors to prevent damage from weather.

• Aspect Windows use a high quality industrial water based primer.
• Our primer is manufactured by DULUX and has been used on timber windows for many years with great success.
• If you have ordered your windows to include optional priming, please take note of the following comments.
• Primer is a temporary coating, do not leave primed windows in direct weather for more than 2 weeks, primer will break down.
• Your primed windows will need to be sanded and prepped before painting to achieve best results.
• contact your local paint shop or master painter for advice on reputable top coating products/systems.

• Fit appropriate flashing system to window/door frames as required.
• It is the builder’s responsibility to adequately flash frames to suit specific weather conditions and site conditions.
• Frames must be packed plumb, square and not twisted between the openings.
• Ensure window & door sills are fully supported.
• Sills on all windows and doors must be straight and level.
• Sills on door units must be packed and secured to prevent bowing, twisting or springing.
• Top Hung Sliding doors/windows must be screwed through top tracks and into lintel above at every 600mm to prevent sagging and poor operation.
• Bifold doors/windows must be screwed through top tracks and into lintel above at every 600mm to prevent sagging and poor operation.
• Protect door sills from damage with ply or ramps.
• Do not roll sliding door panels on concrete/paved surfaces this will damage rollers.

• When cleaning windows & doors, Avoid using a hose or pressure washer on Timber and glass, especially around timber joins.
• Wipe away dust and grime from moving parts with damp cloth.
• Inspect your paint/coating every three to six months and touch-up or re-coat where necessary, including top and bottom of sashes & doors to prevent damage from weather.
• Windows and doors may need adjustment beyond factory settings once building has settled.
• Sliding door rollers can be adjusted by home owner if need be with a Philips head screwdriver. (ensure weight is taken off roller assembly when adjusting rollers)
• Keep sliding door tracks, guides and rollers free of dirt/sand leaves etc. seep or vacuum regularly.
• Use silicone based lubricant on tracks and guides to maintain smooth operation.

• Avoid using razor blades to clean glass.
• Use warm water with a small amount of detergent on a microfibre cloth. Rinse with clean water and dry with Microfibre cloth.
• Take extra care cleaning LOW-E Glass or any performance coated Glass. Do not use Razor Blades or any metal on this glass you will damage the coating.
• Remove any concrete/mortar immediately to prevent scratching glass.
